Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Associate Director, this role supports critical compliance and student financial activities to ensure the University's compliance responsibilities are met.

Responsibilities*

45% Administer the Quality Assurance Internal Review ProgramThis role will identify and review samples to conduct quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with Federal Funding, Scholarships, Endowments, and Federal Work-study.

  • Identify issues that are a potential risk to compliance with federal programs
  • Review output and guide staff to correct student records and maintain accurate documentation of corrections
  • Audit reconciliation to ensure the university remains in compliance with the required data used in the awarding, disbursem*nt, and reconciliation
  • Monitor scholarship awarding process to ensure data integrity for awarding and renewal of need-based and merit institutional aid
  • Recommend updates to processes to ensure compliance with Title IV regulations

20% System Compliance SupportCollaborates daily with university technical and operational staff to ensure the Office of Student Financial Aid systems and processes interface effectively with other university areas to maintain compliance with regulations and policies.

  • Provide support in federal reconciliation files (PELL, TEACH, Direct Loans, etc.)
  • Review output for errors and escalate any issues to AD and Operations.
  • Support with technical and data integrity issues affecting administrative and academic departments, provide input for needed changes to relevant software or set up and escalate issues.
  • Support the administration of satisfactory academic progress.

15% Communication ComplianceDevelops and distributes student communications in compliance with state and federal student aid regulations. Contact students as necessary to comply with financial aid disbursem*nt regulations.

  • Routinely review documents, communications, and notices and conduct quality checks while verifying compliance and regulatory mandates are met successfully
  • Supports the Associate Director and reviews policies and procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance with all Federal, State, and Institutional Student Aid Programs
  • Helps maintain financial aid calendar (training, compliance, and communication) of activities and administers important updates with staff

10% Data Analysis/Reporting

  • Retrieves and analyzes data to proactively identify adjustments made to financial aid awards that are within compliance with federal, state, and institutional policy.
  • Recommends updates to reports to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintains and provides updates on students with active ?Get to Graduation? financial plans.

10% Additional Responsibilities

  • Create and present training on relevant topics.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Participates in reviewing all materials disseminated to University community members related to federal aid and education financing.
  • Represents the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at meetings and events as needed.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of federal, state, and University policies and regulations governing financial aid programs.
  • Researches and remains current on the financial aid regulatory environment, assessing their impact and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Represents OFAS at professional conferences, workshops, and other professional development activities as appropriate.
  • Participates in audits and investigates questions in annual audits
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*

  • A bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-4 years of financial aid experience
  • Knowledge of Title IV financial aid regulations and programs
  • Ellucian Banner experience preferred
  • Must not be in Default or Overpayment in any Title IV Federal Programs (Pell, Loans, etc.)

Work Schedule

40 hours/week (Monday ? Friday)
